Finland har blitt en frontlinjestat i NATOs fremrykning mot den russiske grensen. Som EU-medlem har landet lagt seg på den aggressive, antirussiske linjen som dikteres av Brussel, noe som i stor grad preger det politiske klimaet, hvor det å være fredsaktivist kan medføre store personlige kostnader.

Gjesten i denne episoden – Armando Mema – stilte som kandidat for De Grønne i kommunevalget i 2022, men forlot partiet i 2024 på grunn av skuffelse over partiets holdning til Israel. Han er nå medlem av «Vapauden liitto» – Frihetsalliansen.

I dette intervjuet drøfter Armando situasjonen i Finland, hvor stengingen av grensen mot Russland blant annet har forårsaket store økonomiske problemer og ført til høy arbeidsledighet. I likhet med i Norge er det ingen motstand mot politikken overfor Ukraina i parlamentet, hvor alle partiene går inn for den samme krigsvennlige politikken. Kritiserer man denne politiske linjen, blir man raskt stemplet som pro-russisk og en Putin-forsvarer.

Finland has become a frontline state in NATO’s advance toward the Russian border. As an EU member, the country has adopted the aggressive anti-Russian stance dictated by Brussels, which largely shapes the political climate there, where being a peace activist can come at a high personal cost.

Our guest in this episode – Armando Mema – was running as a Green party candidate in the local elections of 2022, but left the Greens over disappointment about the party’s stance on Israel in the spring of 2024. He is now a member of “Vapauden liitto” – The Freedom Alliance.

In this interview, Armando discusses the situation in Finland, where the closure of the border with Russia has, among other things, caused major economic problems and led to high unemployment. As in Norway, there is no opposition to the policy toward Ukraine in parliament, where all parties advocate the same pro-war policy. If you criticize this political line, you are quickly labeled as pro-Russia and a Putin apologist.
